My cat doesn't like your pet food, what should I do?

Cats are territorial, more independent and therefore often more temperamental. Some, moreover, have very pronounced tastes that are not necessarily very relevant to their health, notably water from plant containers or soapy water. Refusal or sulking are quite common, but this should not be considered as an instinctive reaction to the quality of the food. In fact, a cat doesn't have great nutritional needs either, and by nature can go several days without eating, even if he pretends to be asking for it all the time. The first thing to do is to leave him the pet food for 2 to 3 days, or moisten them with cat's milk so that he gradually gets used to the new taste. After this period, consider that tastes are in nature and that he has probably won: change his pet food. A balanced food is first and foremost a food that is eaten.

Why are there raw ashes?

Raw ashes correspond to all the minerals necessary for the good health of dogs and cats, and therefore for the balance of our recipe. The word "ash" comes from the method of analyzing the mineral composition of a product, in use since the 19th century. To measure the mineral content of a product, the product is burnt. Organic compounds burn off, while inorganic compounds (i.e. minerals) remain in the incineration crucible as ash.

Why is the list of additives so long?

Yes, the list of additives is long and it can be frightening, but there's nothing "dangerous" about additives once you understand what they actually represent. There are several types of additives. Firstly, there are nutritional additives, which are simply vitamins, minerals or amino acids added in their raw form. These compounds are provided in part by the food in the recipe, but it is necessary to add them to perfectly meet the nutritional needs of dogs and cats. Nutritional additives account for 90% of the additives present in pet food. The remaining 10% are technological additives used during the production of pet food to power the manufacturing processes. They prevent pet food from crumbling (binders) and ensure product preservation (antioxidants). All technological additives are assessed by ANSES (Agence nationale de sécurité sanitaire de l'alimentation) before being put on the market. There are also sensory additives such as colorants, flavor enhancers and shine and odor enhancers, but these are not used in our products.

What is an animal protein hydrolysat?

Hydrolysis is the result of digestion. Animal protein hydrolysates are therefore animal proteins that have been pre-denatured under the effect of heat for a given period of time. The advantage of these hydrolysates is that they are far more digestible than simple dehydrated animal products. Some hydrolysates play a role in palatability, as the molecules released during hydrolysis are much more olfactory, while others contribute to the nutritional protein content. What's more, these products are totally hypoallergenic. Animal protein hydrolysates are a real nutritional plus!

Why is there phosphorus?

Phosphorus is an essential nutrient involved in many vital metabolic reactions in dogs and cats. Below a certain level, there's a risk of deficiency: in the long term, this can lead to serious illness or even death. If there is too much, there is an excess and therefore toxicity, which can also lead to illness and death. The same applies to hundreds of molecules, vitamins and minerals. That's why our recipes are formulated in collaboration with veterinarians specializing in animal nutrition, to provide you with pet food perfectly balanced and adapted to the needs of dogs and cats.
